All our bodies need periodic detox and care; why should our skin be treated differently? After all, it is the largest organ in our body. It protects us from harsh external conditions and keeps the interior in place. Since this body is exposed to the external environment all day, every day, it makes sense to give it some attention to keep it functioning properly.
Why should I worry about skin care?
Skin care has been looked down upon as a vanity in recent years. A person who is aware of his body is branded as a narcissist. But you have to understand that everyday work, busy weekdays and a hectic and unhealthy lifestyle take a heavy toll on your body. The symptoms of poor health manifest themselves first on your skin, then on any other part of the body. Time really takes its toll on us, but premature wrinkles, dull skin, sun damage and some serious conditions like eczema and psoriasis can be prevented and treated with a proper care routine.
How do I start a proper and ideal routine?
Before designing a regimen, find out your skin type. The different types include - oily, dry, sensitive and combination skin. You should also check for other issues that you want to solve. You need to understand that there is no one-size-fits-all regime because we are all different. This means that what works for your family or friends may not be the best solution for you.
What is the basic skin care regimen?
Since the routine depends on skin type, we've put together a basic practice that works for everyone. It includes -
For morning ritual
1. Cleansing
To clean, invest in a sulfate-free cleaner. These cleansers are mild and do not completely remove the natural oils, leaving you smooth and soft. A good cleaner removes excess oil and dirt without drying you out.
2. Toning
Keep out of toner containing alcohol. Alcoholic toners are harsh and lead to dehydration. You can use natural toners such as rose water. And if you are a person with dry skin, you can skip this step.
3. Moisturizing
Moisturizer helps with hydration. Use a moisturizer that contains SPF to protect yourself from the sun. There are different types of moisturizers for different skin types. Before choosing one, keep in mind that it is better to choose a natural product that is organic and non-comedogenic.
At Night
1. Cleansing
You can use the same detergent that you used in the morning. If you use makeup, wipe off each bit of makeup and dirt with cleansing oil and wash off the rest with the cleanser.
2. Apply serum
Antioxidant serums are rich in nutrients formulated to nourish your face. Check for ingredients such as vitamin C, algae extracts and resveratrol.
3. Eye cream
People who have swollen eyes or dark circles will benefit from using an appropriate eye cream.
4. Moisturizing
For better nourishment at night, choose a water-based moisturizer that provides moisture without clogging the pores.
